...and just beyond that, summer break.
For some reason, these last three months have both flown by, and worn me out. It's not any one thing - or even a series of very large things - that have worn me out. Honestly, I can't quite put my finger on why, but I can say that it is so.
So. I'm beyond thrilled that we have arrived at Memorial Day weekend! A little weekend R and R. Ahhhhh. As tradition dictates, I've always seen weekend as the unofficial start of summer, and this year is no exception. My mind is already racing with all of the plans we have this summer - Dodger games, Hollywood Bowl, vacationing in Santa Barbara, reading/Reading/READING, laying around the pool, working on a few projects around the house ... and relaxing. Really!
I stopped by the vet's office at lunchtime today to pick up a prescription for Slippers and the receptionist asked what we had planned for the weekend. I told her we had a simple weekend planned: a Dodger game tomorrow evening, friends over for dinner Sunday, and the rest of the time we were just planning on relaxing. "Really?", she asked. She commented that most of us say we're going to relax on the weekend, but then we end up filling the weekend with so many chores and activities, that we never really do end up relaxing.
Valid point. I'm not sure why so many of us feel the need to cram so many things into our weekends, but cram we do. Sometimes it really is necessary, but sometimes it's just a habit. When she said that, it really struck me because I've done that very thing countless times. Isn't it enough that we work all week long? I think it is and I'm really going to try my best to fit in as much relaxation over each weekend as I possibly can.
Read a book from cover to cover? Absolutely. Take a nap? Why not? Sleep in and enjoy a cup of coffee and bagel on the patio? Sounds good to me! Catching up on a couple of movies in a row. Ahhhh, what a luxury!
Maybe if we all did that every weekend, we wouldn't have such a dislike for that dreaded word: Monday.
BLECH.
It really does leave a bad taste in the mouth, doesn't it?

Really?
My last post was in March?
How does that happen? How does the time slip by so fast?
Well, I guess that just means I have a lot of catching up to do!
Let the posting begin!
