I can't remember how many years we've been going to the 4th of July shows at the Hollywood Bowl, but it's something we look forward to every year. This year was no exception!
Early in March I begin scouring the HB website for the schedule for the upcoming summer season, so that we can plan which shows - besides one of the 4th of July shows - we'd like to see. On this year's docket: July 3rd - Hall & Oates, July 16th - Sarah McLachlan, and August 20th - Fantasia.
Of course, half of the fun of an HB concert is the picnic that goes along with it! This past Sunday we enjoyed brie with apricot preserves and baguettes, fried chicken, spinach salad with mushrooms/pecans/bleu cheese, orzo with lemon & parsley, sliced fresh peaches and lime & white chocolate chip cookies. Mmmmmm - what a feast! Kevin stopped at the store in the morning to pick up a few things from our list, and I asked him to pick up a nice bottle of red wine to enjoy for the evening. He did a great job picking out a delicious wine! He chose Cupcake - Red Velvet
It was yummy! We enjoyed a bottle of sangria with dinner and had the Red Velvet after dinner - before dessert! It was a great evening with family and good friends, good food, good music and fireworks. Ahhh life is good!
